Set up

- 4 attackers stand on the sides of the square, 2 defenders in the middle.
- Keep spare balls by the square so play can start again quickly.
- Space
- 12 x 12 yard square, a small goal 10 yards off two sides
- You need
- 2 small pop-up goals · 4 cones · Spare balls · Pinnies for the defenders
How to play
- The 4 keep the ball away from the 2 defenders. 6 passes in a row is a point.
- If a defender wins the ball, the 2 defenders may leave the square and score in either goal.
- The 4 try to win it back before the defenders score.
- After a score or a point, the coach plays a new ball in. Switch defenders every 2 minutes.
Coaching points
- Move along your side so there is always an open passing lane.
- Pass to your teammate’s far foot, so they can play on with one touch.
- Defenders: one presses the ball, the other cuts off the pass through the middle.
- Lost the ball? Everyone reacts at once and chases.
Easier
Make the square bigger, play 5v2, or 4 passes in a row is a point.
Harder
Two touches only, a smaller square, or the defenders must score within 6 seconds of winning the ball.
