Set up
- Mark a 25 x 25 yard grid. Spread 4 to 6 small goals inside it, facing different ways.
- Every player has a ball.
- No pop-up goals? Make goals with 2 cones about 2 yards apart.
- Space
- 25 x 25 yards with 4 to 6 small goals inside
- You need
- 4 to 6 small pop-up goals · 4 cones for the corners · 1 ball per player · A watch or phone timer
How to play
- On “Go!”, dribble to any goal and pass the ball into it from close up.
- Get your ball out of the net and dribble to a different goal. Not the same goal twice in a row.
- Count your goals out loud for 60 seconds.
- Rest for 30 seconds, then try to beat your score.
- Play 4 to 6 rounds.
Coaching points
- Keep the ball close, with lots of small touches.
- Head up! Look for an open goal and don’t crash into anyone.
- Pass it in with the inside of your foot. It’s a pass, not a blast.
- Use both feet and turn quickly to find the next goal.
Easier
Use more goals, and let the youngest dribble the ball right into the goal.
Harder
Score only with your weaker foot, or from outside a cone around each goal. Add 1 or 2 keepers without a ball who guard the goals.
